Exerpt from theatre review:
"In supporting roles, Francesco Valenti is appropriately smug and smarmy as The Duke, Josh Shtein is full of slick swagger as The King, Colin Garon is a ruggish Tom Sawyer, Matt Roehl is a believable Mark Twain, and Josh Shtein is a master of broad physical comedy as the drunken, foul-mouthed Pap. Among the women, Bonni Dance provides some soulful singing as Alice and Madeline Loewe-Pollock (who alternates with Brielle Mussomeli) lends her heartfelt acting and powerhouse voice to the role of sweet Mary Jane."
This is a video interview with the director of CYC Theatre on the play, Big River. The show was a big success! He talks about my scene with Brooke, who plays my daughter and how well the scene was executed at frame 1:18. and he also speaks about me toward the end at frame 2:44. They also close the video out with one of my solos at 3:09.
I was interviewed on the KUSI weekend morning news today (October 27th, 2013) and performed a couple of songs with the band. This interview was to promote the maxi-single and the upcoming show on Saturday, November 2nd. This was such a good time. I can't wait for the next time!

Award-Winning CYC Theatre presents “Shrek, the Musical”
Featuring several of the city’s most talented professionals and up-and-coming young performers in a fun-filled, family-friendly Broadway musical based on DreamWorks’ Oscar-winning movie.
SAN DIEGO(October 10, 2013) – Coming off the unprecedented success of their recent production of Les Miserables, the California Youth Conservatory (CYC), three-time winner of the San Diego A-List Award for “Best Theatre Group”, will present “Shrek, the Musical” at the popular Lyceum Theatre in downtown San Diego. The ‘greatest fairy tale never’ told comes to life in this Broadway musical based on the smash-hit movie. Called a “triumph of comic imagination” (Elysa Gardner, USA Today) that “never stints on spectacle or laughs” (David Rooney, Variety), Shrek The Musical received eight 2009 Tony Award® nominations including Best Musical, winning Best Costume Design of a Musical (Tim Hatley) and received a Grammy Award® nomination for Best Musical Show Album. Featuring a fantastic score of 17 all-new songs, Shrek The Musical features a superb live band, brilliant lighting design by Michael Hoffman, skillful choreography by Shirley Johnston, choral direction by Amy McDowell and is directed by the award-winning Producer/Director Shaun T. Evans. The production stars the versatile Giovanni Munguia (RENT, Spring Awakening, Les Miserables) as “Shrek”, backed up by a formidable supporting cast which includes R&B singer Bonni Dance as the voice of “The Dragon.”
Of the show, producer/director Shaun T. Evans says, “If you like Shrek, you’re going to love this musical. The cast is superb, and the music is a lot of fun. The message in the story is so human that people will be glad they came. There are not a lot of shows playing around Thanksgiving time in San Diego, and we hope people will bring their friends and families downtown to enjoy this production with us.”
